A Bright Future

bright futureThe need for the center's services is just as great now as it was in 1924 when it was founded. However, today Phyllis Wheatley is stretched to meet these needs and our capacity must expand in order to effectively meet the demands of a growing and changing community.

Phyllis Wheatley has been actively working to address the critical need for adequate and updated program space to effectively fulfill its mission. Phyllis Wheatley plans to renovate the existing facility and build program capacity by adding a versatile performing arts space along with classrooms and community meeting space and by upgrading Camp Katharine Parsons. These plans are grounded in the Center's historic role as a provider of high quality programs for youth and families. The new space will also serve the needs of Bethune Community School and Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board.
