Barbara Milon, Executive Director
Barbara Milon is responsible for the oversight of all functions of Phyllis Wheatley Community Center, including leadership, general management and direction enabling PWCC to achieve core issues of its strategic plan and mission. Since 1924 the Phyllis Wheatley Community Center has served over 200,000 children and families. Today PWCC is one of the founding partners of the MACC Common Wealth (MCW) with Family and Children Services, Pillsbury United Communities and Plymouth Christian Youth Center. Barbara’s activities include:

Barbara earned a Masters of Science, Community Economic Development from Southern New Hampshire University. She was previously Executive Director for the Neighborhood Development Corporations Association, Greater Cincinnati, OH, 1990 – 2003.
Steve Gustafson, CFRE, Director of Development and Marketing
Steve has a Bachelors degree in Recreation and Park Administration from the University of Minnesota; is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals; received a Mini MBA in Volunteer Management from the University of St. Thomas, and is a graduate of Leadership Twin Cities. Steve’s previous professional experience includes, Senior Grants Manager at Greater Twin Cities United Way, Director of Camping & Community Immersion for Pillsbury United Communities and Director of Outdoor & Environmental Education for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Minneapolis.
Wayne Hunter, Family Services Director
Wayne has been a group facilitator and anger management services coordinator for ten years including services provided through several agencies including Lutheran Social Services and Tubman Family Alliance. Through his leadership, the Stronger Together – Men’s program has experienced compelling results and a steady increase in demand for services through referrals. Wayne has an AA Degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Wisconsin and has completed certificate trainings in victim advocacy, understanding anger, anger management skills, sustaining healthy relationships and understanding domestic violence.
Deb Tomasino, Youth Services Director
Deb Tomasino became Youth Services Manager at Phyllis Wheatley Community Center in 2008 after a long career at Phyllis Wheatley Community Center’s Mary T. Wellcome Child Development Center that began in 1987. She was first Special Needs Coordinator and then became the Mary T. Wellcome Child Development Center Director in 1993. As Youth Services Manager, Deb continues to oversee the daily operations of the child care center in addition to managing Phyllis Wheatley’s other youth programs, including Academic Achievement Program and School Success. She has a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from St. Cloud State University with a major in Psychology with a Human Services emphasis, and a double minor in Early Childhood Education and Sociology. She began her career in Early Childhood Development at Early Childhood Family Education in 1989 prior to her work at Phyllis Wheatley.
