The Phyllis Wheatley Community Lawyering Project is dedicated to providing free legal services to low income residents of North Minneapolis. The PWCLP works with community leaders, neighborhood organizers, and individuals to empower low-income residents of North Minneapolis to:
- Speak for themselves
- Affect change on their own terms
- Build stronger neighborhoods.
The PWCLP is one part of an effort to build a community of support to address the chronic problems facing new and old residents of North Minneapolis by enfranchising neighborhoods one at a time.
The PWCLP provides the following legal services to low-income residents of North Minneapolis:
- Local and accessible legal education
- Legal services fair
PWCLP collaborates with Volunteer Lawyers Network to provide a free, walk-in legal clinic at which you may receive legal advice and brief legal services. The clinic runs on Thursdays from 11 – 1:00 p.m. except holidays. If you have any questions, please call 612-374-4342.
